Maud Hinchee

Chief Science Officer

As Chief Science Officer with ArborGen (the leading supplier of seedlings to the industry), Maud leads the R&D program on improved tree varieties from advanced propagation technologies, genomics and biotechnology. She adds additional experience in project management and intellectual property issues to IBSS.

Bill Hubbard

Southern Regional Extension Forester

With a long career in extension, Bill furthers the team's capacity for outreach with fundamental understanding of effective methods of information transfer. Along with experience in outcome-based research, he brings an expansive network of collaborators involved in both forest and agricultural biomass production.

Steve Kelley

Professor and Head, Department of Forest Biomaterials

Steve has been closely associated with both the biofuels (NREL), and pulp and paper (NCSU) industries. He adds extensive technical expertise to the IBSS team, and experience in project management. He is also closely involved in curricula development and other higher education issues.

Tim Rials

Professor and Director, Center for Renewable Carbon

As director of the SE Regional Sun Grant Center, Tim contributes a regional perspective of issues and challenges, and an extensive network of researchers and collaborators at land-grant institutions. He also coordinates the national program developing woody crops as a biofuels feedstock.

Steve Taylor

Professor and Head, Biosystems Engineering Department, Center for Bioenergy & Bioproducts

Steve directs Auburn University's Center for Bioenergy and Bioproducts, coordinating their broader biofuels research and development program. From his academic experience, he brings unique educational insights and a strong appreciation of outreach.

Kelly Tiller

President and CEO

Recently voted to the "Top 100 People in Bioenergy" (Biofuels Digest), Kelly has worked to advance the commercialization pathway for advanced cellulosic biofuels. She has co-managed the first true deployment partnership with DDCE that built an operating, 2nd generation biorefinery.
